Although Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge continues its strong run at the box office, the film has fallen into legal trouble. Bollywood production house Trimurti Films has filed a lawsuit against Aditya Dhar’s company B62 Studios over the alleged unauthorized use of the song Rang De Lal (Oye Oye).

Controversy over the use of “Rang De Lal”.

According to a report by Bar and Bench, the dispute is over the rights to the popular song from the 1989 film Tridev. The song was co-written by Kalyanji Anandji along with Viju Shah, with lyrics by Anand Bakshi, and vocals by Amit Kumar and Sapna Mukherjee.Trimurti Films claimed that the song, or a version closely similar to it, had been used in the film without obtaining the required licenses.

The report also states that Trimurti has asserted his ownership and/or control of the rights to the musical work and sound recording.

The company claimed that the use amounted to copyright infringement, including unauthorized copying and public transmission of the track.The lawsuit seeks an injunction restricting further use of the song, along with damages and other relief. It has also raised concerns about the commercial exploitation of the track across theatrical release, streaming platforms and promotional content.

The film continues its strong run at the box office

Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios. The espionage thriller starring Ranveer Singh is a sequel to Dhurandhar (2025).

The film explores the origin story of his character, Jaskirat Singh Ranji, and charts his transformation into Hamza Ali Mazari and his rise within the Lyari underworld while on a larger mission.The cast includes Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun, with Dhanish Pandur and Udaybir Sandhu in the lead roles. The film also has a cameo by Yami Gautam.

Despite the controversy, the film performed exceptionally well, reportedly crossing the Rs 1,000-crore mark at the Indian box office.
