Deepika Padukone shares her inner struggle as a mother: 'I desperately need a break...but I can't bear to live without them'

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh became parents to a baby girl in September 2024. They named her Dua Padukone Singh and dropped the first pictures of her on Diwali last year. Ever since becoming a mother, Deepika has been obsessed with her daughter.

In a viral clip, when she was asked about her current obsession, she said that it is not currently, that it is an obsession all the time now, and that it is her daughter. Deepika has been making the most of motherhood, and through a recent video, she shared her actual feelings about being a mother. The actress shared a clip on her Instagram stories in which she spoke about her internal struggle as a mother which also includes mother guilt. The actress shared that as a mother, she feels like taking a break sometimes, but she cannot bear to be without her child.

The video said, “My toxic trait is that I love my child so much that I don’t want anyone else watching them… but I desperately need a break… but I can’t stand being without them… but I also crave 24 hours of silence… but I still want to be with them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Earlier, Deepika spoke at the WAVES Summit 2025, about how her life has changed dramatically since becoming a mother.

“I’m discovering this new life after embracing motherhood. The moment you have a child, you’re now responsible for another human being, and especially in the way I lived my life, it was so much about me — leaving home, my ambition, my career, it was all about my life and everything I wanted for myself.”

And now, suddenly, you care about this person who depends on you for everything.She also admitted that finding the right balance between work and family is still a work in progress. “This person is coming in front of you. I don’t think I’ve found the answer to that yet,” she said.On the work front, Deepika is currently working on the film King with Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Suhana Khan and others.
