A British woman has filed a civil lawsuit against actor Crispin Glover, alleging he forced her to move to Los Angeles, forced her to become his live-in girlfriend and “sex slave”, before making her homeless after the two got into a physical altercation nearly two years ago.

Glover, best known for his breakout role as George McFly’s father in the beloved 1985 film Back to the futureis accused by a woman identified only as “Jane Doe” in the civil lawsuit filed in California Superior Court. He is charged with battery and assault. Fraud and wrongful eviction; Malicious prosecution and intentional infliction of emotional distress; and violating California’s civil rights law, Bane’s Law.

The charges stem from “a disturbing series of incidents in which Jane Doe was essentially held captive and used for sex and free labor by Mr. Glover under false pretenses,” according to the legal filing.

The lawsuit alleges that Glover, who has been single most of his life, and Doe, a former model, entered into a relationship after they met online in 2015. The lawsuit states that Glover asked her to move to Los Angeles from the United Kingdom for years, with the promise of a place to live and work in the entertainment industry as his assistant.

They initially met face-to-face in Dresden, Germany, in 2023. Doe claims in the filing that he showed her pieces from his personal collection of Nazi memorabilia there. According to the filing, Glover then “groomed Jane Doe with promises of a new life in Hollywood through some sort of business relationship with him.”

Doe moved to Los Angeles in early 2024. At that point, their relationship quickly changed from plan, the lawsuit alleges, with Glover’s behavior changing dramatically, and she “found herself in a disturbing situation where Mr. Glover wanted to control her actions, track her whereabouts, and essentially serve him as a girlfriend/sex slave,” the lawsuit says.

As the alleged demands from Glover became more outlandish, according to the suit, Doe began refusing to participate. The situation came to a head in March 2024, when Glover grabbed her by the neck, leaving a visible gash. Glover then changed the locks on his home, leaving Doe homeless, she said.

Doe, who filed the civil suit in California Superior Court, is seeking a jury trial and unspecified damages for the alleged damages she suffered.

Glover has strongly refuted the allegations through his representatives, who stated that it was he who was assaulted by Doe at his home in the altercation nearly two years ago. He filed a restraining order against Doe at that time in 2024, the source of the malicious prosecution element of her civil case.

“Mr. Glover denies these baseless allegations in the strongest possible terms. The fact is that on March 2, 2024, Mr. Glover was the victim of an unprovoked felonious assault by Jane Doe at his Los Angeles residence. Mr. Glover contacted the LAPD, who came to the scene, investigated and arrested Jane Doe,” a representative said in a statement sent to various media outlets.

“These facts are documented by law enforcement records and by the restraining order Mr. Glover filed against Jane Doe at the time. Mr. Glover intends to defend himself vigorously and will pursue every remedy available. He is confident that the judicial process will expose this lawsuit as a baseless fabrication.”

Glover has maintained an eclectic career in Hollywood and independent film over the past few decades since his debut as Marty McFly’s father. On screen, he mostly portrayed eccentric men, a troubled cousin Wild at heart To Andy Warhol in Doors And the silent evil villain in Charlie’s Angels (2000). He directed many films, including… What is this?; He’s fine! Everything is fine.; And last year no! You are wrong. Or: scary remote work.
