The ruling came in response to a lawsuit filed by the actor, challenging the unauthorized use of his personality for commercial gain without his consent.Acknowledging his widespread popularity, the court noted that Arjun’s distinctive dialogues and distinctive style enhance his stature. “The aforesaid documentary evidence etc. clearly shows that the unique and distinctive features of the plaintiff are exclusive to the plaintiff and are source identifiers of the plaintiff. The features like name, appearance, voice, mode of delivery of dialogues, gestures, dress, speech, signature and likeness would clearly constitute the copyright of the plaintiff which no one other than the plaintiff would have rights to exploit exclusively,” the court said.
