Rick Glassman has built a strong fan base through his podcast, take off your shoes, The stand-up comedian finds interviewing celebrity guests almost the perfect first date.
“There’s flirting. And the flirt doesn’t have to have a romantic interest. Flirting to me is like flirting — you push a little, push a little, and you let them do the same thing,” Glassman says. Hollywood Reporter During his solo presentation, Ricky is on the looseAt the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal.
He finds that the best podcasts are the ones that evoke the atmosphere of two people meeting for the first time with light banter, jokes, playfulness and even subtle flirtation to see if his guests could work together on films or TV series Glassman might have in production.
His recent guests include comedians, actors, directors, and musicians Alison Brie, Lisa Gilroy, and Adam Ray, who made his 28th film.y Appearance, Nick Kroll and veteran showrunner Bill Lawrence. “Using play allows you to be more present, and when you’re present, you’re not projecting what people are doing or why they’re doing it,” Glassman insisted.
When asked if his first dates — sorry, podcast versions — should ideally end with a kiss of some sort, Glassman does his stand-up show, where talk of dating etiquette fills his comedic repertoire. “When do you kiss? Do you ask? How do you ask? I remember being afraid to go on dates because, if I’m supposed to go on kissing, what if I don’t want to yet? What if they don’t want me to yet? ” he ventures.
So Glassman settled on podcasting, instead, to connect with celebrities, with an eye toward second dates. “I love it when people come back a second time” on the podcast, he adds. Especially if they want to get high for the occasion, as Glassman explains, “I had a good time with you the first time. Let’s see what it’s like to be so silly.”
Of course, Glassman continues to do film and television work, with recent credits including recurring roles Comedians and no one. After an upcoming European tour of his comedy tour, Glassman will return to host an unannounced television show.
