Chitrangda Singh will star opposite Salman Khan in Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace, where she will play a simple and loyal woman. She said that the role is different from previous characters and women of Sudhir Mishra. The film is inspired by the Galwan clashes and is awaiting a new release date. The teaser was released in 2025, with the songs already released.
Chitrangda Singh is all set to appear alongside Salman Khan for the first time in Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace and is very happy for viewers to see her in a brand new avatar. The actress recently shared insights into her brief, the process of embodying the role, and how it stands out from characters she has portrayed in the past.
Chitrangda Singh on transforming into her character
Speaking to Variety India, Chitrangda said: “Well, the truth is that they didn’t want me to look like Chitrangda at all. That was something that was very clear.” Speaking about how she did it, she explained: “The usual actor’s tools, of course. I think when we worked on the hair, the clothes, etc. suddenly I looked like a different person. I started acting different, sitting different. My whole body language changed!”
Singh also spoke about her role and said, “This character is a completely simple woman who loves her family, husband and children, and believes that ‘my home is my temple.'”

Chitrangda Singh’s diverse roles over the years
Over the course of her two-decade film career, she has played a variety of roles portraying different types of women. In “Hazarun Khoishin Aisi,” I wrote an article about Geeta, a woman who returned to London and continued teaching and participating in social work in a village.
In the movie Desi Boyz, she played the role of Tanya, a college professor. Recently, she was seen as Meera Bansal in the Netflix film Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders, and is a member of a powerful media family.
Chitrangda Singh on why ‘Maatrubhumi’ is a refreshing change
Singh seems particularly drawn to her role in “Maatrubhumi,” describing it as a welcome shift from the female characters she has portrayed in the past. “It was so nice to play someone who is so kind and giving and completely invested. I think it’s about you, more than just the dialogues, which is what I was trying to do with the character.”
I hope you come across like this. It is very different from the kind of women Sudhir (Mishra) writes about.
I loved it and really enjoyed playing just a simple woman.
‘Maatrubhumi’ movie details and release update
