Ed Sheeran talks about his wife Cherie Seaborn's recovery after being diagnosed with cancer

Ed Sheeran took to social media to express his relief and happiness that his wife, Sherri Seaborn, is recovering well following surgery she recently underwent to remove a tumor that was discovered during her pregnancy in 2022.

Ed Sheeran has shared a reassuring update about his wife, Sherri Seaborn, following her cancer diagnosis, which he once described as a scary time in their lives. Sheeran said Seaborn is now doing well after treatment.

He explained that doctors discovered the tumor in 2022 while she was pregnant with their second daughter, Jupiter, who is now 3 years old. The singer said the timing made the situation more difficult, but added that Seabourne is now on the other side of that health battle. Her recovery gave Sheeran rare good news after a period marked by sadness, fear and stress in his personal and professional lives.

Ed Sheeran update on Cherry Seaborn’s health

On the “Friends Keep Secrets” podcast with Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky and Christine Patalucco, Sheeran gave a live update on his wife.

“She’s fine,” Ed said. “She had the operation.”Then he explained why the diagnosis was so serious at the time. “I mean she was pregnant at the time,” Ed added. “That’s why it’s been difficult. I had the tumor removed after I had our second child. Fortunately, touch wood, she’s completely fine.”Sheeran first spoke about Seabourn’s diagnosis in his 2023 Disney+ documentary, “Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All.”

In the new podcast interview, he looked back on the moment he learned the news and said it remains one of the darkest periods of his life.

Sheree Seaborn’s cancer diagnosis and Ed Sheeran’s toughest week

“The day Sherri called me and said she had cancer,” he said. “That was probably the worst day. It was probably the worst week, because Jamal died that week as well and then we went straight to the case in court. And then Shane died.”At the same time, Sheeran was also dealing with a copyright lawsuit over Shape of You.

He said larger events in his life changed his view of the case, particularly the emotional impact of Sheen’s death, causing him to reevaluate the significance of the lawsuit in the context of his personal experiences. “It was scary,” he revealed. “Despite this, I’m in a court case that everything has been building to for eight years.

“And suddenly, when you’re in the courtroom, it doesn’t really matter anymore.”Sheeran also reflected on Seaborn’s role in his life during a previous “Call Her Daddy” appearance. “Cherry is the biggest grounding force,” he said, adding that it keeps life simple and grounded in reality.
