“Dancing is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Dancers are superheroes. They give their bodies away in complete silence,” Mad Max: Fury Road “Sorry Timothée Chalamet,” the star said, prompting the reporter to joke.

“Oh, boy, I hope to meet him one day,” Theron replied. “That was a very reckless commentary on an art form, two art forms, that we need to constantly lift up because, yes, they’re having a hard time. But in 10 years, AI will be able to do Timothy’s work, but it won’t be able to replace a person on stage dancing live. And we shouldn’t do that.” [expletive] to other art forms.”

She continued, “Dancing has taught me discipline. It has taught me structure. It has taught me hard work. It has taught me to be tough. I’m literally talking about bleeding through your shoes. And that’s something you have to practice every day, the mentality that you don’t give up, there’s no other choice, keep moving forward.”

Chalamet first sparked backlash in February during a diverse and a CNN town hall with Matthew McConaughey. During the chat, the Marty Supreme star was asked if audiences were still interested in slower-paced films.

He responded by saying that he did not want to be involved in an art form that “nobody cares about,” pointing to ballet and opera as examples. “I don’t want to work in ballet or opera where it’s like, ‘Hey!'” Chalamet said with a laugh. Keep this thing alive, even though no one cares about it anymore.” “All respect to the ballet and opera people out there… You just lost 14 cents in viewership. “I’m taking pictures for no reason.”

His comments sparked criticism from members of the opera and ballet communities, as well as other celebrities.

The moment even became a highlight at last month’s Oscars, where host Conan O’Brien joked, “I’ve been told there are concerns about attacks from both the opera and ballet community,” before adding to Chalamet, “They’re mad because you left jazz.”
