The official cause of death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, the 14-year-old singer linked to D4vd, has finally been revealed.
Revealing the cause of Celeste Rivas’ death
The teen, who was found dead and dismembered in the trunk of a Tesla D4vd, according to an autopsy report released Wednesday, had “penetrating injuries.”
According to the autopsy, she had serious injuries to her torso, likely caused by a sharp object.
Celeste Rivas’s body parts are missing
Her body was so deteriorated that examiners could not even determine the color of her eyes. She had braces on her teeth at the time of her death, and a tattoo reading “Shhh…” on the inside of her finger, according to the report. Two other fingers were missing, as well as parts of her arms and legs. The body was reportedly “severely decomposed” and its head was “partially skeletonized with an absent left eye.”
Drugs were found in her system
According to the report released by Los Angeles County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Audie C. Okpo, the autopsy report says there was a “presumptive positive” for methamphetamine and ecstasy. The report also adds that the victim may have had alcohol in her system, but that did not contribute to her death. The Los Angeles coroner said Celeste was killed by multiple penetrating injuries with unspecified objects, and her death was ruled a homicide.
The reports were revealed after prosecutors allowed them to be released
A judge had ordered the report sealed in November at the request of law enforcement after the discovery of the teen’s decomposed body in September. But prosecutors agreed this week to allow his release. Los Angeles County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Audie C. Okpo has sought to emphasize his agency’s independence from law enforcement and make its work as public as possible since he took office three years ago.He said he did not believe sealing reports on his office’s work would help investigations, and said he would not suspend publication of the reports unless forced to do so by court order.“After so many months, I am grateful that this information can now be released, not only to the public, but also to the grieving family experiencing the loss,” Okpo said in a statement on Wednesday. “It is incomprehensible that they had to wait so long to find out what happened to their daughter.”
The reason behind the alleged murder
Prosecutors allege D4vd killed the girl because she threatened to report their sexual relationship, which began when she was 13, and he feared it would ruin his rising career. The 21-year-old alternative pop singer D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, was charged with murder on Monday. He has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, lewd and lascivious acts with a person younger than 14, and mutilation of a corpse. Burke’s lawyers said he did not cause Rivas Hernandez’s death, and they will vigorously defend his innocence.
