The Italian International Series Festival (IGS) returns to two coastal cities in Italy next month, with a group of distinguished celebrations in which an elite group of stars, writers, actors, producers and other creators from the world of series will participate. Celebrating its sixtieth anniversary Star Trek It will be one of the highlights of this year.

The festival, under the artistic direction of Marco Spagnoli, unveiled the majority of its programming on Monday, including selections from international competitions, a series of talks and notable Italian premieres. The series will be screened free to the general public in both Rimini, from 3 to 6 July, and Riccione, from 7 to 10 July, before returning to Rimini on Saturday 11 July for the closing night ceremony, during which the winners of the competitive sections will be revealed.

IGS said it received more than 160 entries from around the world this year, with the final selection for the international competition comprising 21 series from 15 countries, including from Europe, Asia, North America and Latin America. The international competition, which consists of a drama, comedy and limited series section, will see Maximo awards for Best Series, Best Lead Actor, Best Lead Actress and Best Creator/Director, as well as a Special Jury Prize.

American producer Marty Noxon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, prison break, Gray’s Anatomy, mad men) will be president of the drama series jury, director and screenwriter Nicholas Meyer will be president of the limited series jury, and French actor and playwright Bruno Goiri will be president of the limited series jury. (Emily in Paris, White lotus) will be president of the comedy series’ jury.

The lineup of talks at IGS this year includes Carlton Cuse hosting a panel titled “Lost in Fellini,” where he will be joined by Oscar-winning writer-director John Ridley (American crime, 12 years of slavery), a conversation between executive producer David W. Zucker (Alien: Earth, Drug thief, Blade Runner 2099(and producer Steve Stark)The Handmaid’s Tale, Wednesday, Fargo) about the future of international production and an event with married Turkish film and social media stars Ozge Gurel and Serkan Çayoglu, where they will discuss their work and life in front of the public’s eyes.

Other sessions include a dialogue with actress Jeri Ryan, known for her role in the film Star Trek Universe, about contemporary female role models in television and in science fiction in particular, in addition to a conversation between Zucker and Nicholas Mayer, director of several programs.
