Janus Films has acquired all North American rights to German director Valeska Griesbach’s film (westernThe new film is the title of the Cannes Film Festival competition The adventure you dreamed of (Das Geträumte Abenteuer), which received the Jury Prize on the Croisette.
The deal was negotiated between Janus Films and The Match Factory. Janus will unveil its theatrical release plans in the coming weeks.
The adventure you dreamed of It was produced by Komplizen Film and co-produced by Grisebach, Kazak Productions, Miramar Film, Panama Film, New Matter Films, ARTE France Cinéma and ZDF/ARTE.
“In Svelingrad, a small town on the Bulgarian border, Viska (Yana Radeva) meets Said (Suleiman Letivov), an old acquaintance whose car has been stolen,” the film’s synopsis reads. “She offers him her help, and brings him to the excavation site where she works as an archaeologist. When they reconnect, Visca is drawn further into the shady world Sayid has emerged from, and soon embarks on her own exploration of the criminal connections lurking beneath the surface of this seemingly innocent city on the outskirts of Europe. As figures from her past approach, Visca is forced to confront the truth about the city and her experiences.”

Griesbach graduation movie, Be my starIt was nominated for the Adolf Grimm Award in 2002, and won the Critics’ Award at the Toronto International Film Festival, as well as the Grand Prix at the Turin Film Festival. Its second advantage LongingIt premiered in the competition program of the Berlin Film Festival in 2006, and won awards at international festivals. Her third feature film, westernIt premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, and won the German Film Critics’ Prize for Best Feature Film, among other awards.
