CAA sets lineup for 11th Moebius Film Exhibition

The 11th edition of Moebius Showcase, Creative Artists Agency’s annual showcase series highlighting graduate student filmmakers and their work, has revealed the lineup for this year’s show May 27-28.

CAA Moebius will screen short films directed by student filmmakers from top film schools, including the American Film Institute Conservatory, New York University, Columbia University, Chapman University, the University of Southern California, Florida State University, and the University of Texas at Austin.

The first night’s show will feature Columbia University alumna Greta Diaz Moro Lokita por te; becomeChapman alumnus Aidan Forte; New York University graduate Harold Kahane Alternative decision; Graduate of University of Utah-Austin India Opzoomer Poster Boy; and Dongmei, From NYU alumnus Rubing Zhang.

The second night’s shows are booked Rat Clubwritten by AFI alumna Grace Goodvin; verses, From USC Graduation Director Sonia Bhatia; AFI graduate Alex Bush Beware of wolves; Norheimsund, From NYU graduate Ana Alpizar; and Kumquatfrom FSU Director of Graduate Studies Lex Lee Morales.

The committee behind the 11th installment includes Derek Davidan, Emily Reeve, John O’Shea, Katie Needham, Leila Ghosheh, Milo Pepper, Ryan Urrea, Sammy Johnson, Seth Parker, Walter Szafran, and CAA alum Chloe Landau, who currently works at Netflix.

This year CAA Moebius will present Moebius Labs, a series of workshops and informal talks that give participating filmmakers direct access to key film and television creators, producers and executives. This year’s Lab speakers include screenwriter Julia Cox in conversation with Liz Suggs; Producer Jesse Henderson; Director David F. Sandberg and CAA Motion Picture Literary Agents.

The show will also feature appearances by Palm Springs Director and Mobius alum Max Barbakow is an Oscar-winning writer and director yet to be announced. Each will host an evening and deliver keynotes celebrating the next generation of storytellers, according to CAA.

CAA Moebius was launched by “Over the past 11 years, Moebius has continued to grow alongside the filmmakers who have come through the program,” CAA motion picture agents Christina Chu, Zack Kaplan and Pete Stein said in a joint statement on Friday. “With the introduction of Moebius Labs, we wanted to create a more direct exchange between emerging filmmakers and established creators working at the highest levels of the industry. This year’s lineup reflects an amazing range of voices, ambition and cinematic perspectives, and we’re proud to continue building a platform that supports the next generation of filmmakers.” Storytellers.
