The Hindu had earlier reported that Brown’s film stars Karishma as a stubborn but pill-popping cop who sets out to arrest a psychopath. Her character, Rita Brown, struggles with alcoholism, loss, depression, and her inner demons while trying to stay relevant in her career and life.“The character is very raw and human,” Karishma told The Hindu. She added: “I was looking for something that was creatively satisfying. Aside from the crime drama in which Brown investigates the brutal murder of a girl, we are touching on a subject that is not usually covered on screen.”The series is directed by Abhinay Deo and is based on Abhik Barua’s novel ‘City of Death’. The film is set in Kolkata and against an Anglo-Indian backdrop.
The cast also includes Soni Razdan, who plays Karishma’s mother.Speaking about the role, Karishma said: “The inspiring journey of an exhausted and battered woman. She goes through a lot but still shows up when the situation calls for it.”
