Well, he did it. Traitors Season 4 concluded on Thursday night, crowning treacherous traitor Rob Rausch the sole winner.
the previous Love Island The contestant, a traitor on day one, played a long and strategic game, ending his win by reminding viewers that people saw him as a “stupid hottie” but he won the game. Throughout his time in the Tower, Rausch turned on fellow traitors Lisa Rinna and Candiace Dillard Bassett, voting them out earlier in the season. The trio were the original group of traitors, with Donna Kelsey serving as the newly introduced “secret traitor.” And for the final time, Rausch decided to stab his traitorous recruit in the back late in the game, K-pop veteran Eric Nam.
Heading into the finale, Nam, Johnny Weir, Mark Ballas, Maura Higgins, Rausch and Tara Lipinski remained in the competition. The final murder of the season, which is expected to be revealed at the top of the finale, will be revealed in front of the entire contestants. Weir, Ballas, Higgins, and Lipinski are all potential victims of the traitors’ final wrath, with Ballas being the traitors’ final victim.
After a final mission that saw an honest helicopter jump into the water, Nam, Weir, Higgins, Rausch, and Lipinski headed to the last real roundtable. Weir was eventually voted out, splitting the Olympic duo. On their way to the final flaming roundtable, each player tossed red or green bags into the flames to indicate if there were any traitors remaining in the group or if they were ready to move on as a final group of players. All four chose red. Higgins, who had maintained throughout the entire season that Rausch could not be a traitor, cast the final vote to remove Lipinski. The Olympic gold medalist said she was “absolutely devastated” after Higgins voted for her.
With Nam, Higgins and Rausch leaving, Nam was the only player to vote to move on but Rausch and Higgins voted for another elimination. In her confession, Higgins tried to convince herself that Nam must be the traitor. Of course, he was, but unfortunately for Higgins, she soon learned that her ride or die was also treacherous. Nam voted for Rausch, while Higgins and Rausch voted for Nam.
Host Alan Cumming told the remaining players that if they were both loyal, they would share the prize. But if a traitor remained, they would take the entire plot. Higgins smiled during the reveal that she was a traitor only to tear up in shock when Rausch revealed that he had been a traitor the entire game. “Oh my God, I’m so stupid,” Higgins said, while Rausch denied the allegation.
“You fooled me so much, you absolute idiot. You promised me your pinky,” she said. Higgins eventually asked Rausch to stop talking when he tried to explain. “You won’t have a girlfriend after this,” she said. “You’re a good liar.” “You know, though, fair play. If I were a traitor, I’d do the same thing. No hard feelings.”
“Rob, you’re a fucking snake. But well done,” she finished.
Rausch, who now found himself $220,800 richer, expressed remorse at having to stab the person he was closest to at the Games, Higgins, and at having to cross Nam. Cumming reminded Rausch of the so-called game Traitors. “Would you give $100,000 to someone you met three weeks ago?” Rausch was questioned in his confession, amidst his solitary celebration outside the castle. “I won’t.”
