Brad Pitt Heart of the beast Paramount Pictures announced Tuesday that the film will sail into theaters on September 25, 2026.

David Ayer directs the action-packed survival thriller, starring JK Simmons and Anna Lambe.

Heart of the beast The film is about a former Army Special Forces soldier (Pete), who is stranded deep in the Alaskan wilderness with a dog after a plane crash. Ayer directed the project from a screenplay by Cameron Alexander.

A trailer for the film shown at CinemaCon last month focused on the relationship between Pitt and his beloved pet. “I’ll get you home,” Pete assures the dog after their plane crashes. “We’ll just have to do it the hard way.” This was followed by a scary moment when Pete and his dog crossed the river, and Pete’s effort to keep his dog from falling resulted in him ending up in the water. Other moments involve the couple encountering wild animals.

Marty Bowen and Olivia Hamilton are producing alongside Pitt and Ayer (the latter three have PGA credits). Executive producers include Damien Chazelle, Cameron Alexander, Chris Long, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Titanegro, Andrew Leary, Sophie Cassidy, and Zach Conroy.

The company’s credits include Chazelle, Hamilton’s Wild Chickens Productions, which has a first-look deal with Paramount, Ayer’s Crave Films, Pitt’s Plan B, and Bowen’s Temple Hill.

Ayer most recently drove Jason Statham’s car last year Working man Pitt previously directed in 2014 anger. Its other features include Suicide squad, shining and beekeeper.

Pitt helmed the 2025 film Race, directed by Joseph Kosinski F1 which received four Academy Award nominations and also starred Damson Idris, Kerry Condon and Javier Bardem. Pitt’s other recent credits include Wolves In addition to the movie George Clooney and Chazelle 2022, Babylon.
