Dharmendra Death News: Dharmendra Passes Away At 89 At His Mumbai Residence, Karan Johar Posts: ‘End Of An Era’

Bollywood mourns the loss of a legendary and veteran actor Dharmendra who died in Mumbai on December 8 at the age of 89, just days before his 90th birthday. The veteran actor, fondly known as the ‘He-Man of Bollywood’, whose unparalleled career spanned six decades and 300 films, was recently discharged from Breach Candy Hospital and was reportedly recovering.

However, on the afternoon of November 24, an ambulance was seen leaving his house, and several celebrities reached Pawan Hans Crematorium in Juhu. While his family has yet to make an official statement, filmmaker Karan Johar publicly confirmed the news of his death. Several celebrities have also expressed their heartfelt condolences on social media platforms. The actor has not been feeling well since November 1, when he was admitted to the hospital.

His last film, now released posthumously, will be Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan’s grandsons Agastya Nanda and Jaideep Ahlawat. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on December 25, 2025.

Karan Johar took to his Instagram account and wrote in an emotional post, “It’s the end of an ERA… a massive megastar… the embodiment of a HERO in mainstream cinema… incredibly handsome and the most enigmatic screen presence… he is and remains a true legend of Indian cinema… formative and richly present in the pages of cinema history… but most of all he was the best human being… he was so loved by everyone in our industry….”

He had nothing but immense love and positivity for everyone… His blessings, his embrace, and his incredible warmth will be missed more than words can describe…. Today, there is a gaping void in our industry… a void that can never be filled by anyone… there will always be the one and only DHARAMJI… We love you, my dear sir…. We will miss you so much… Heaven is blessed today…. It will always be my blessing to have worked with you…. And my heart says with respect, awe, and love…. Abhi Na jao chodke…. Ke dil abhi bhara nahi…… OM SHANTI” Notably, the late actor was seen in Karan Johar’s 2023 film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring Shabana Azmi, Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, and Jaya Bachchan.
