Winners of the 22nd British Academy of Film and Television Arts BAFTA Student Awards include young filmmakers from Spain, France, China and the U.S. The award was unveiled at a ceremony in Los Angeles on Friday night hosted by TV presenter Elle Ouseley Wood and featured presenters such as actor/producer Asif Ali, actor/writer Wil Wheaton, immersive artist Gina Kim and film executives Katherine Busby and Nils Swinkels.
The BAFTA Student Awards celebrate emerging creative talent from around the world in film, games and immersive storytelling. This year’s winners were selected from more than 600 entries from universities around the world by a judging panel that included actor/writer Joel Kim Poster, composer Laura Karpman, documentarian Smriti Mundra, actor/comedian Nico Santos, and executive director Heather Callow.
“We continue to be inspired by the originality and ambition of student work from around the world,” Courtney LaBarge-Bell, executive director of BAFTA North America, said in a statement. “Every year, these projects raise the bar for storytelling across film, games and immersive media, and reflect the creative energy driving the future. We’re proud to provide a platform that recognizes these talents and helps support the next stage of their careers.”
