Ayan Agnihotri, Salman Khan’s nephew, is determined to make it on his own merit. He revealed that Salman never spoon-feeds him and always pushes him to get things done independently. Regarding nepotism, Ayan said that for his family it is simply a matter of them being a close unit.
Ayan Agnihotri, Salman Khan’s nephew, is making his own way in the entertainment industry without relying on the privilege that comes with his famous family name. Even though his uncle is one of the biggest stars in Bollywood, Ayan is determined to earn his place through his own merit and hard work.
While working alongside Salman gave him valuable exposure and experience, he made it clear that he did not want to be spoon-fed or given opportunities just because of his family connections.
What does the creative dynamic look like when Ayan Agnihotri works with Salman Khan?
In a conversation with News18, Ayaan was asked about the creative dynamic when working with Salman and whether the uncle-nephew relationship takes a back seat once the cameras start rolling or if she really adds something special to the process.
“It’s a combination of both,” he said. “Mamo is very meticulous when it comes to work. He expects you to get everything done. You have to be there, you have to do the work, and you have to take responsibility for it.”
It won’t hover around you. He will tell you: This is what you have to do. This is who you have to do it with. Now go ahead and get it done. So, in many ways, it’s good to know that at that point, it’s just work. What needs to happen must happen.
Then, of course, comes the nurturing and mentoring element.
He added, “But at the same time, he never hovers. He’s very clear that you have to do it first. Once he’s done with it, he’ll tell you what to say about it. But he doesn’t come in and do that part for you. He’s like, ‘This is the beat.’ You discover it. You write it. You discover it with Vishal. Or: “This is what I shot.” This is the manager.
Now go figure out how you should get your turn. So, basically, he says, “Go and do it yourself.”
It won’t help you at that point, because that is your journey and your responsibility. But then, he will always give his directions.”
How does Ayan Agnihotri deal with the sign of nepotism and outside perceptions?
When asked about growing up in a family full of artistes and how his relationships with Salim Khan and Salman helped him separate real familial support from external perceptions, and whether this clarity has changed the way he presents himself as Agni, Ayaan gave a very honest and grounded answer.
He explained that the way things look on the outside is very different from how they actually feel on the inside. “The way we see it from the inside is completely different,” he said. “For us, it’s just Mamo and Nana.”
This is the standard family setup for us. We don’t look at it from the inside out. The importance of those relationships doesn’t depend on social media counters or anything like that. Family is family. The unit is close as a family first. Everything that happens outside is not what we see at home. Ghar ki liye, it’s just family.”
