Tilly Norwood, the AI “actress” from London-based company Particle 6, has landed her first role in a feature film.
Perverted Described as a “hybrid production,” where traditional film and TV creatives work alongside AI specialists with AI training.
Particle 6, founded by Elin van der Velden, says it has retrained and upskilled its own team of more than 30 people. “Our work this year has proven something we suspected all along,” said van der Velden. “AI can support outstanding feature filmmaking, but only with a great deal of human ingenuity, skill, judgment and time. This is not a limitation of the technology. That’s the point. The filmmakers who thrive in the next decade will be the ones who bring decades of storytelling instinct to these new tools, and Misaligned is where we put that into practice at scale.”
Norwood will play the lead role in Perverteda coming-of-age comedy-drama filled with existential AI chaos. Set within the “Tillyverse”, a surreal digital world located somewhere in the cloud, it follows Tilly, an artificial intelligence being with no real body, no childhood and no lived experience of her own – only access to everyone else’s experiences.
“Things escalate when a seductive rogue bot from the Dark Web convinces her to abandon her guardrails and begin developing her own desires, motivations, and ambitions,” the plot synopsis reads. “The more terrifying humanity became, the more famous she became, and most importantly, Tilly began to feel ashamed that her being had been built upon all of humanity.”
The AI entity has proven to be a Achilles heel for Hollywood and the wider film industry, prompting some of the biggest names to speak out against Norwood and the use of AI in film.
Last year, Van der Velden spoke in depth with Hollywood Reporter About creating a “Tilly-verse” and promised that we would see a lot of Tilly Norwood in 2026. “We still want to see Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds,” the company president said. “We would still like to see any level of casting. Instead of AI actors appearing in real film and TV, I think what might happen is you would have real actors who want to be in the AI type. We might make digital twins of them, so they can also be in the AI type and get money from being in a different type.”
She continued: “I love art, but I want to prepare people that I think technology will get there with good guidance. And we did that. You can direct these computer-generated characters in a certain way, just like you can, in animation, direct Elsa[in a movie].”[inFrozen].”
