Disney has revamped its anime-inspired series Dragon striker For the second season.
The news is being shared Thursday at Anime Expo in Los Angeles during a sports fantasy series panel discussion.
Dragon strikerThe official tagline for ‘Ssyelle’ is: “In a world where sports and magic come together, farm boy Kei discovers his very powerful natural talent and learns that he can be the legendary dragon striker. Set in Kal Asterok, an elite school for students who use a magical energy called Tama, Kei joins goalkeeper Ciel on a feisty new team to challenge the school’s heroes. As he struggles with the rampaging dragon within him and Ciel fights to keep her team together, they learn dark secrets from the past that uncover an ancient evil.”
In Season 2, “The Knights face broken friendships, buried secrets, and an ancient evil as they fight to reach the final Banner’s Helm and risk everything for victory.”
Season 2 will debut in early 2027 on Disney+ and Disney XD. Watch the first photo for the upcoming season above.
Dragon striker It features a voice cast that includes Akshay Kumar as Key, Rebecca Lachance as Ssyelle, Yeukayi Ushe as Milo, Waylon Jacobs as Odward, and Evanna Lynch as Ameline.
Kevin Behnken (Made in Abyss, Star Wars: Visions) is the author of the series. The score was recorded in Japan with an 80-piece orchestra. The theme song, “Power of the Dragon”, was written and produced by Cash Callaway and performed by Sarah West. The end credits song “The Very End” was written and performed by Kieran Rhodes.
Produced by Disney Kids & Family, the series is produced by La Chouette Compagnie (DronesComing Dreamland) in association with Disney Television Animation. The main creative team, which has worked on numerous animated adventure series in France, Japan and the United States, includes Sylvain dos Santos (co-creator/executive producer), Charles Lefebvre (co-creator/director) and Paul McKeown (head writer).
