Andre Holland is rocking a fresh start in the trailer for the Hulu boxing drama They fight.
Holland (moonlight), Wendell Pierce (The wire(and Samira Wiley)The Handmaid’s Tale) stars in writer-director Sheldon Candice’s feature film, which premieres Monday at the Tribeca Film Festival before debuting on Hulu on July 17. Anthony B. Jenkins, Toussaint-François-Baptiste, and Mykelti Williamson make up the cast.
Based on the 2018 documentary of the same name, They fight The film follows real-life Walt Manigan (Holland), an ex-con who is eager to patch things up with Keita (Wiley), the mother of his young son. After leaving his boxing past behind him, Walt finds himself training a team of teenage boxers in D.C. who aspire to compete for the national championship. The trailer for the film can be watched below and is exclusive to Hollywood Reporter.
“If you all can see my mistakes, I promise I will give you everything I have,” Holland says in the footage.
Candace directed the film from a script he wrote with Andrew Renzi and is based on Renzi’s 2018 documentary. Producers include Renzi, Jason Michael Berman and Ben Renzo.
