Amy Virk backs Ranveer Singh in Don's third row: 'They ignored him during flops, now they want Rs 45 crore after Dhurandhar's success'

Punjabi actress and singer Amy Virk came out in support of Ranveer Singh amid the ongoing controversy over the actor’s exit without 3. Speaking about the dispute between Ranveer and Excel Entertainment, Amy questioned the timing of the producers’ actions and suggested that the actor should not be asked to pay compensation of Rs 45 crore. The controversy surfaced months after Ranveer achieved massive box office success with the Dhurandhar franchise. However, the celebrations were said to be overshadowed when Excel Entertainment sought compensation of Rs 45 crore, alleging that the actor left Don 3 just weeks before the film was scheduled to release. The issue remains unresolved.

Amy Virk questions producers’ timing

During a conversation with Connect Cine, Amy Virk gave her opinion on the dispute and expressed confidence in Ranveer’s integrity.

The two actors previously worked together in ’83.While admitting that he was not aware of all the details of the dispute, Amy said he found it difficult to believe that Ranveer could be wrong.“I feel that when he had some failures, you (Excel) could have started Don 3. Then they ignored him. Now that Dhurandhar is a huge success, they are demanding their money back,” he said. The actor also said that Ranveer should not be expected to pay such a huge amount.

“They can do whatever they want. Whatever Rs 2-4 crore they are worth, take it and move on. Who will give Rs 45 crore?” Amy noticed.

“It’s not Ranveer’s fault.”

Amy continued his support for the actor and said that legal action would not necessarily lead to a solution.“It’s not Ranveer’s fault. They can file a case if they want. These kinds of cases go nowhere. They continue for 20 years,” he said while laughing.

Views He issued directions not to cooperate

The dispute escalated last month when the Western India Cine Employees Union issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer.

The union claimed that the representative failed to respond to repeated requests to appear before the body and discuss the matter, despite sending him three reminders. The directive came more than a month later

FWICE has reached out with a complaint regarding Ranveer’s exit from Don 3. The producers have claimed that the actor’s withdrawal from the project resulted in pre-production losses of Rs 45 crore.

Industry bodies step in to mediate
