Amazon MGM Studios has decided to make the decision.
The company has picked up Shots! Shots! Shots!a Jason Momoa action comedy previously at Universal.
Momoa is in talks to star in the landmark project, which is being produced by Jonathan Ehrich of Rideback, the banner behind the $1 billion-grossing live-action film. Lilo and Stitch remake. Momoa will also join the production team alongside Jeff Ferson.
Original specs from writers Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows, the project arrived at Universal in 2022. But shifting budget priorities led Universal to rethink the project and opt to put it in turnaround. Amazon MGM was more than happy to snap it up, having seen what a successful Momoa comedy looks like. Story details are being kept under wraps, but the project is described as a family-centered adventure with a James Cameron feel. True liesLiam Neeson taken Franchise and Paramount’s latest hit Lost city.
Mider and Burrows will executive produce, as will Rideback’s Ryan Halperin.
The project is still in development, and is not expected to be Momoa’s next feature. The actor who recently left Sony Diverswho was scheduled to begin filming in August, will next be seen playing DC Studios’ iconic hero Lobo. Supergirl. The superhero movie opens June 26.
Momoa’s big year continues with the legendary year Street fightwhich will be in theaters on October 16, and Sand Dunes: Part Threewill be released on December 18.
