The release of Akshay Kumar's film Bhooth Bangla has been postponed to avoid competition with Ranveer Singh's film Dhurandhar 2

Director Priyadarshan’s much-awaited horror-comedy ‘Bhooth Bangla’, starring Akshay Kumar, will not hit theaters on April 10 as initially planned. Amid ongoing speculation, the latest report has confirmed that the film will be officially postponed to April 17, 2026.

This decision comes at a time when the movie “Dhurandhar 2”, starring Ranveer Singh, continues to dominate the box office, occupying the majority of screens. Even Hollywood star Ryan Gosling’s “Project Hail Mary,” designed for an IMAX release, struggled to secure a proper showing due to the film’s overwhelming attendance.

An industry insider was quoted by Variety India as saying, “The producers of ‘Bhooth Bangla’ have realized the challenges of taking on a Ranveer Singh hero. It is a good business decision. It is a win for the producers as well as the industry. Even ‘Toxic’ has avoided clashing with Aditya Dhar’s direction. There should be no arrogance in such decisions. Ektaa’s mother, Shobha Kapoor, fully supports this decision.”The new release date, according to the news portal, is April 17, which was earlier scheduled for Salman Khan’s ‘Maatrubhumi’, before that project was postponed, leaving the spot vacant.A trade source also explained, “The postponement of Bhooth Bangla was entirely driven by the need for breathing room at the box office. The trailer launch of the film, which was initially scheduled for March 30, has now been canceled for now, with new plans to unveil it in the first week of April.”

‘Bhooth Bangla’ also marks the much-awaited reunion between Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan after 14 years. The duo has previously done many beloved comedies, including ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Garam Masala’, ‘Bhagam Bhag’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, ‘De Dana Dan’ and ‘Khatta Meetha’.
