and co-producer Ekta Kapoor.During the interaction, Ekta revealed a surprising anecdote about Akshay from their previous collaboration, believed to be ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobara’. She shared how the actor returned his fee after the film failed at the box office, a gesture that left her stunned.Ekta shared, “I have been waiting to work with Akshay for several years now.
The one thing people don’t know is that he’s the only actor who called me after our first film didn’t do well. She then went on to describe the moment she met him. “He gave me a check and said, ‘This is the money I’m going to give you back, you lost money, take your money.’ I was in shock. Nobody does this. In my 31 years in this industry, nobody has ever done this before.”
He gave the check casually. I said: No, sir. You’re making a movie for my company.
We’re going to make a lot of money. She said: This movie is finally happening. While the audience responded with applause, Tabu lightened the mood with a witty remark, mentioning his recent hit song “Crew.” “And what about the surplus crew you gained? When will that get to us?” I asked sarcastically.Ekta laughed at the question and replied, “When does a producer give that? They never do that.” “We know that,” Tabu concluded with a knowing smile. After a busy 2025 with releases like Sky Force, Kesari Chapter 2, Housefull 5 and Jolly LLB 3, Bhooth Bangla marks Akshay’s first release in 2026.
