While fame and stardom come at a price, many celebrities have often spoken out about their disapproval of paparazzi invading their privacy and going above and beyond. In a recent interview, when Akshay Kumar was asked about it, the actor revealed that while he does not consider it an occupational hazard, it would be worrying for an actor if no one clicks on him or recognizes him. He was also asked if warts would invade his privacy, if he was out and about with his wife Twinkle Khanna and kids – Aarav and Nitara. Reacting to this, Akshay in an interview with Rajdeep Sardesai at India Today Conclave said, “Dekhi, abhi main airport se utrunga, kabhi wife meri saath mein hoti hai ya mere pakshi hot hai. Woh photo lena chaht hai. Ek photographer, meri ek photo ya meri wife ke saath ek photo lin ke 3.5 hazaar ya 4 hazaar milte hai. Usko Milte hai toh mereko kya honi chahiye problem.
(See if I am at the airport with my wife and a photographer wants to click my photo, he gets around Rs 3500-4000 to take my photo or my photo with my wife. If he is earning money, why should I have a problem just posing for him). When also asked about invasion of privacy, the actor said, “Agar aap bahar nikalte hai, biwi bacche ke saath toh kis baat ki privacy? (What privacy are you talking about when you go out with family and not at home?)” Akshay was then asked if he accepts it as an occupational hazard, and he quipped, “It’s not a risk.
If they don’t take a picture that’s a problem. “As an actor, if someone doesn’t recognize you, that’s a problem.” For those who don’t know, Jaya Bachchan said in an interview with Barkha Dutt some time ago, “My relationship with the media is great. I am a product of the media; but my relationship with the paparazzi is zero. Who are these people? Are they trained to be representatives of this country? You call them the media! I am from the media; my father was a journalist. I have great respect, tremendous respect for such people.”She then pointed out: “They think they have a cell phone where they can take your picture and say what they want and what kind of comments they pass on.”
