A&E seeks to prove Scott Peterson’s innocence in the 2002 murder of his wife, Lacy Peterson, and their unborn child. Well, more accurately, A&E is the receptacle of the latest left/right docuseries, Scott Peterson: The New Evidencewhich chronicles the efforts of the Los Angeles Innocence Project (not affiliated with the Innocence Project) to overturn Scott’s conviction.
Scott Peterson: The New Evidence It was announced Wednesday in a presentation A+E gave to advertisers. A&E says the four-hour special (over two nights) for the summer premiere will reveal “amazing revelations.”
“A recent surprise plea presented new evidence that could undermine the prosecution’s account of the murders of Lacey and Conner Peterson more than twenty years after their tragic deaths,” the summary read. “What happened on Christmas Eve 2002 is still hotly debated – and this new file says new evidence proves it was impossible for Scott Peterson to have committed the crimes against his wife and unborn son.”
The thing is, we already know that the Los Angeles Innocence Project’s campaign has mostly failed. At this point, Peterson only has the longest hope of a Hail Mary appeal.
For the series, veteran defense attorney and ABC News legal counsel Chris Pixley conducts his own examination focusing on the timeline of the crime for which Peterson was convicted. The A&E special “examines both sides of the case, uncovering startling revelations and revisiting the most baffling questions about what really happened to Laci and Conner,” according to its log.
Scott Peterson: The New Evidence Produced for A&E by Left/Right with Banks Tarver, Ken Druckerman, Pete Ross and Maija Norris as executive producers; Pixley is a consulting producer. Eileen Frontier Bryant and Brad Abramson are executive producers for A&E.
Additionally, A&E on Wednesday announced a documentary featuring exclusive interviews with John Gotti Jr. and his son John Gotti III. Gotti Files From Propagate Content and Lady Moon Entertainment It will premiere in early 2027. No one is arguing that these guys were innocent of much, though the younger Gotti is out of prison and says he’s kept his nose clean since serving five years for racketeering.
Another new document, Johnny Cash: Man comes aroundcentered around the legendary country artist’s “deep connection to the island of Jamaica” — who knew? I think director Dana Adam Shapiro, for example.
Additionally, Jim Belushi is getting an A&E series about police officers’ K9 partners. They may be adorable, but don’t pet them during service. (Dogs or policemen).
