UTA has signed the writing and producing duo of Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumaker to star in all areas.
Halpern and Schumaker are executive producers and co-showrunners (along with series creator Quinta Bronson) of Abbott Elementarywhich will air its sixth season on ABC in 2026-2027. The series won the 2023 Golden Globe for Outstanding Comedy Series and was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy in each of its first four seasons.
The pair are also behind an upcoming Netflix comedy series I suck girlsbased on Halpern’s non-fiction book. The show will follow the romantic ups and downs of three high school students (Cayo Martin, Jeremy Ray Taylor, and Lila Pruitt), with Halpern and Schumaker serving as directors and executive producing. They are also developing a comedy at HBO Max titled With the back of the hand (with fellow writer Ali Waller), all under their overall deal at Warner Bros. TV with their company Delicious Non-Sequitur Productions. Additionally, Halpern and Schumaker are writing and directing a feature film adaptation of Halpern’s first novel, Get out of my faceis scheduled to be published in July.
Halpern and Schumaker’s previous work includes the DC animated series Harley Quinn and its derivatives, Kite Man: Hell yeah!on HBO Max; CBS S#*! My father says, based on Halpern’s book; NBC’s superhero comedy helpless; And Fox Jack is alive (Which was also inspired by I suck girls).
