One of Bollywood’s most iconic films, Lagaan, is all set to turn 25 years on June 15. To celebrate the momentous event, actor Aamir Khan and director Ashutosh Gowariker gathered with the cast and crew of the Oscar-nominated classic for a grand celebration in Mumbai on Saturday.The event turned into a nostalgic reunion for the entire Lagaan family, as several cast members and industry colleagues came together to celebrate the lasting legacy of the film. However, what equally grabbed attention was Aamir’s personal reunion with his ex-wives, Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao, making the evening a family affair as well.
Aamir arrives with his girlfriend Jory Spratt
Aamer was seen arriving at the celebration with his girlfriend, Gauri Spratt. The couple, who confirmed their relationship in 2025, were pictured holding hands and posing happily for photographers.Meanwhile, Kiran Rao arrived with their son Azad Rao Khan, while Reena Dutta also joined the celebrations dedicated to the film she helped bring to life as executive producer.Several members of the Lagaan team, including Rajendranath Zutshi, Yashpal Sharma, Aditya Lakhia and Akhilendra Mishra, were present. Also seen at the event were director Rajkumar Hirani, Prasoon Joshi, Ashutosh Gowariker and his wife Sunita Gowariker.







Ira Khan celebrates mother Reena Dutta’s contribution
A day before the reunion, Aamir’s daughter Ira Khan shared an emotional tribute to her mother, Reena Dutta, as Lagaan completes 25 years and returns to theaters in a special re-release.Ira wrote in a post on social media: “My mom made a beautiful movie” Along with hashtags celebrating the film and her mother’s role as a producer.The touching post came when Reena Dutta’s name appeared on screen as executive producer during the screening of the film, prompting Ira to proudly cheer for her mother.
Ira’s husband Nupur Shikhare also attended the celebrations on Friday.
The movie that made history
Released in 2001, Lagaan remains one of the most popular films of Indian cinema. Set during British colonial rule, the sports drama combined cricket, patriotism and human resilience in a story that resonated with audiences around the world.The film achieved international fame when it became the third Indian film to receive a nomination in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Academy Awards.
It was also a huge hit at the 49th National Film Awards, winning eight awards, including Best Popular Film.Fans still cherish the soundtrack composed by Oscar-winning musician AR Rahman even after decades.
Aamir Khan marries Gauri Sabrat
On the personal front, Amer is preparing for another major achievement. According to reports, actor Gauri Spratt is all set to tie the knot in a simple recorded ceremony on July 5 in the presence of family members and close friends.Aamir was previously married to Reena Dutta from 1986 to 2002, with whom he has two children, Ira and actor Junaid Khan. He later married Kiran Rao in 2005, and the two separated amicably in 2021. They continue to take care of their son Azad.
