The actress was born in Udaipur, Rajasthan, to a Bengali family. While she grew up in Udaipur, she moved to Mumbai with her family. Her father was in the Indian Air Force, which forced her to move from place to place.
The family finally settled in Bangalore after a few years, where Ray ended up getting his big break in films. She has been active in the industry since 2007, and has mainly worked in Kannada films, while she has also appeared in a few Hindi and Bengali films as well. She started modeling along with studying in dental college and got her first screen role in a song in the Kannada language film “Jackpot”.
