Prominent Bengali writer Mani Shankar Mukhopadhyay, popularly known as ‘Shankar’, died at a hospital here on Friday afternoon (February 20, 2026), family members said.

They said Mukhopadhyay (93) had been ill for some time.

He is survived by two daughters.
