Global unveiling of the new generation Hyundai i20! Key details, what's new

Hyundai officially unveiled the fourth generation of the i20, after its images were recently leaked online. The latest version of the premium hatchback makes its debut in Brazil, featuring a completely redesigned exterior, revamped cabin and updated powertrain options.The new i20 adopts a noticeably different design philosophy compared to its predecessor. While the overall look of the hatchback remains familiar, Hyundai has added several SUV-inspired design elements. The front fascia features a full-width LED light bar connecting a pair of arrow-shaped headlights, while Y-shaped LED DRLs add a distinctive signature. At the back, the hatchback gets continuous taillights integrated into triangular-shaped housings.

It also gets new 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels.Built on the Hyundai K3 platform, the new i20 measures 4,130 mm long, 1,780 mm wide and 1,495 mm high. It rides on a 2,580mm wheelbase and offers a boot capacity of 346 litres.Inside, the cabin receives an overhaul with a cleaner, more modern design. The dashboard features a curved screen that integrates the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment touchscreen.

Hyundai has also introduced a new three-spoke steering wheel, while the center console has also been redesigned. The interior is finished in Dual Gray, and the seats are wrapped in two-tone leather upholstery.

Additional features include a wireless charging pad, front armrest, and cup holders.Under the hood, Hyundai is offering the fourth-generation i20 in Brazil with two flex-fuel engine options.

Entry-level versions are powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. This unit produces 74 PS and 92 Nm when running on petrol, while power increases to 79 PS and 100 Nm when running on ethanol.Higher models are equipped with a 1.0-liter direct-injection flex-fuel turbocharged engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. This engine generates 113 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque. Hyundai also states that the turbocharged engine produces 113.4 PS and 171.5 Nm regardless of whether it runs on E30 gasoline or ethanol.
