While fans were disappointed after the much-anticipated “Ramayana” movie was postponed, visitors to San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2026 were said to be in for an unforgettable surprise.
A viral online video claims that attendees, especially members of the Indian diaspora, received an exclusive gift from the makers.
However, the passage has not been independently verified.According to the video, recipients received a pink Prime Focus-branded presentation box. Inside was a message from the Ramayana team as well as a golden-coloured chankha (conch shell) wrapped in a soft cloth.
The ornamental conch features intricate carvings inspired by the epic Ramayana. Shortly after the convention, the video quickly spread across social media, with fans speculating whether the film team had officially distributed the memorabilia.

Actors Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, along with producer Namit Malhotra, starred in Ramayana at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. The trailer of the film was initially scheduled to be released on July 24 at 8 AM EST, but the launch was postponed.
Explaining the decision, Malhotra said, “Today is a very special moment for our Ramayana. My dream of taking Ramayana to the world has now come true through our partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment. In view of the above, we will release our trailer globally later.”He added: “Over the course of more than 100 years of Indian cinema, this will be a moment of great pride as the Ramayana will be shown to the whole world like any major international Hollywood film.
This is special because it opens the door for people around the world to discover the richness of our culture and stories with renewed pride and enthusiasm.Although the makers have not officially stated the reason, the statement came amid nationwide student protests over the alleged NEET paper leak controversy. Reports suggest that the trailer may now arrive between July 29 and 31, but no official confirmation has been made.
‘Ramayana’ Early Preview and Leaks Online
Before traveling to SDCC, the makers organized a special screening during the Pratham Sankalp event in Delhi on July 18. After the preview, several alleged versions of the ‘Ramayana’ trailer have surfaced online. None of these leaked clips have been verified by the makers of the film. Meanwhile, two versions of the trailer have reportedly received certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
