A presidential advisor said on Saturday that South Korean memory chip giants Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix will supply US technology companies, including Nvidia, with agreements worth $950 billion.
The announcement was made during President Lee Jae Myung’s visit to San Francisco for talks with heads of major US tech companies, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, Anthropic’s Dario Amodei, and Broadcom’s Hock Tan.Kim Young-beom, the presidential chief of staff for policy, said the two Korean chip giants and US technology companies agreed to “continue cooperation” in the sector. South Korea is home to world-leading memory chip makers Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, whose advanced memory chips are essential to the rapidly developing artificial intelligence industry and have fueled optimism about the country’s economic outlook.(This is an AFP story)
