The public battle between Candace Owens and Turning Point USA took another turn after the two sides clashed over a Daily Mail report linked to the 2025 assassination of Charlie Kirk. On July 22, TPUSA spokesman Andrew Colvitt said the organization never received a request for comment before publishing the story and questioned whether the article accurately reflected the views of Erica Kirk.
Owens responded, sharing screenshots that she said showed the Daily Mail had contacted her team before publication, and challenged Colvet to take legal action if he believed the report contained fabricated quotes. The exchange became the final chapter in their long-running feud over Owens’ ongoing coverage of Charlie Kirk’s death.

The latest argument began when Andrew Colvitt claimed that TPUSA had not received any request for comment from the Daily Mail before publishing its story.He wrote: “We received no request for comment. We were told they tried to send one, but we couldn’t find it. Strange considering every other outlet on the planet seems to know how to reach us, including the Daily Mail.”
Colvet also argued that the article did not reflect Erica Kirk’s way of speaking and said the newspaper later made significant corrections. He added: “It is disappointing to see the Daily Mail doing the bidding of Candace Owens, who of course has used her as bait for anger on her show because she has no actual evidence to discuss as she continues her very lucrative ‘investigation’.” Maybe it’s the unknown source? “Owens responded by saying she doubted Colvet’s version of events and urged him to demand correction if it was true.
“If this is true, which I highly doubt it is, given its striking similarity to the article that Erica’s family friend Tracy Martin was writing and leading for US Magazine, then you should demand a public response and retraction from the Daily Mail,” she wrote.A short time later, Owens posted screenshots that she said proved her team received a request for comment before the article was published. This retraction is easy to do. Literally, this reporter will lose his job. Are you working on it?”Owens also said that the Daily Mail only corrected what it described as a typo relating to the words “family friend” and “family member”, and did not retract the article itself. She asserted that if the quotes were truly invented, TPUSA should pursue the defamation case. So far, neither party has backed down, and the dispute still exists.
