Sadie Sink’s mysterious character in Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues to draw theories online. From analyzing the 24-year-old actor’s fashion data in interviews to connecting plot lines to the comic books, fans donned their detective glasses to discover the secret behind the newly added role.
However, director Destin Danielle Cretton firmly believes that keeping her character under wraps is a positive decision — even if a subsection of people express dissatisfaction with the secrecy. Here’s a closer look at Destin Daniel Cretton’s take on keeping the character of Sadie Sink a mystery. While Sadie Sink kept her lips sealed during interviews, she was kept hidden from the trailer. Creighton concluded that the curtains had a “very real reason” when asked for his opinion on fans being upset.
“If people get angry, I can’t control that,” he said in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, before adding: “I wish everything was a secret. Some people want to know everything, some people don’t.”“There are some people like me – if I know I’m going to watch a movie, I try not to even watch the trailers for it,” the 47-year-old American director said. Furthermore, he confirmed his decision not to reveal Cinque’s role beforehand, adding that fans will think the same after watching the film.
“But you’ll see when you watch the movie that there’s a real reason people don’t tell who Sadie Sink plays,” he said. “And I don’t think you’ll be mad about it. I think you’ll be like, ‘Oh, I’m glad I didn’t know that,'” he conveyed his thoughts.
