A major fire broke out in the 12-storey Jawahar Bhawan government building in Lucknow’s Hazratganj area on Monday morning. The fire broke out at about 10 a.m. on one of the upper floors after the government offices opened for the day.
Many fire engines rushed to the scene after receiving information about the fire, and fire brigades began operations to control the fire.
The fire broke out in the treasury office. Jawahar Bhawan houses several government offices and is one of the main administrative buildings in the city. According to initial reports, no injuries have been reported so far. The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
The fire has been brought under control
Lucknow Chief Fire Officer Ankush Mittal said the fire has now been brought under control and everyone inside the building has been safely evacuated.
There are no victims. Everyone was evacuated safely. The fire was brought under control. HT understands that ten fire engines remain at the site.
