Former NCP national secretary has issued a legal challenge to the election of party’s national president Sunetra Pawar, five months after she took office.
A legal notice sent to Pawar on July 9 (and received by the party on Monday) said that after the death of former party president Ajit Pawar, national working president Praful Patel was supposed to take office until the elections, adhering to the amended constitution submitted to the Election Commission of India on February 16.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Patel supported Singh’s claim. But NCP’s Suraj Chavan rejected the allegations and said the elections were conducted in accordance with the party’s constitution and IEC guidelines.

“It is just an attempt to create a sensation. All the delegates have unanimously elected Sunetra Vahini as the new party president,” Chavan told HT.
