A 22-year-old Flipkart delivery agent has been arrested after a woman alleged that he barged into her apartment in Bengaluru on the pretext of using the bathroom before attacking her, police said on Sunday. The company said it had fired the employee and was cooperating with the investigation.

According to the complaint, the delivery agent went to deliver an online order at the woman’s apartment. After delivering the package, he asked if he could use the bathroom, saying it was an emergency. The woman, who was alone in the house, refused the request and advised him to seek help from neighbors instead.

The police said that the accused ignored her repeated refusals, took off his shoes and entered the apartment without her consent. After using the bathroom, flash them before leaving the building.

The woman later described the incident in a widely shared social media post.

Bengaluru Police contacted the woman, after which she filed a formal complaint.

Whitefield Deputy Commissioner of Police Sidulu Adavat said the police registered a case under Sections 75, 79 and 329 (2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and arrested the accused, identified as Vijay Mallikarjun Kamat, 22.

Flipkart said in a statement that the agent has been removed from the service. The company said: “We are deeply disturbed by this incident and offer our full support to the customer. The customer’s safety is non-negotiable. The individual involved has been terminated with immediate effect, and we are fully cooperating with the police investigation.”
