She was lured with ground leaves, drugged with soft drink in a moving SUV: Lucknow widow alleges attempted rape

A widow has alleged that she was lured into an SUV on the pretext of handing over land documents, drugged with a soft drink and subjected to an attempted rape in Lucknow’s Wazirganj area. The police registered an FIR and started an investigation.

According to the complaint, the woman, a resident of Rae Bareli Road whose husband died some time ago, was in touch with a real estate dealer from Nagram about purchasing an 800 square feet plot of land. She claimed that the dealer introduced her to another man claiming to be the owner of the property.

An FIR was lodged under BNS charges 76 (assaulting a woman and forcing her to strip), 318 (4) (cheating), and 351 (2) (criminal intimidation) against Randeep and Balram Kashyap.

The complainant said that she was shown the plot of land on May 21, and after she agreed to buy it, she paid for it. $50,000 cash advance. When she asked for copies of the land records, including the khatouni, sale deed, loss and order under Section 80, the accused allegedly asked her to wait for a few days.

She claimed that on May 29, she was summoned to the civil court headquarters in Qaiserbagh on the pretext of handing over the documents. From there, one of the accused allegedly took her towards the residence area, where another man was waiting for her in a black Scorpio SUV. The accused claimed that the lawyer was the one who brought the documents and convinced her to sit inside the car.

The woman alleged that despite her refusal, he repeatedly offered her a soft drink. After she drank about half the bottle, she started to feel dizzy and sleepy. She claimed that the accused then harassed her, attempted to sexually assault her, and attempted to rape her inside the moving car.

According to the FIR, the woman raised an alarm and repeatedly banged on the car’s doors and windows. She claimed that the accused pushed her out of the moving SUV near the chief doctor’s office before fleeing the scene. She later returns home in a rickshaw. The complainant also alleged that on June 6, she received threatening phone calls from one of the accused and others, warning her not to approach the police and threatening to kill her and her children if she followed through. An FIR was registered on the woman’s complaint.
