Aditi Govitrekar, best known for her work in De Dana Dan and Paheli, recently shared her thoughts on the state of the film industry these days. In her comments, the star shared that women continue to be “marginalized” these days after they reach a certain age.

She even compared the situation to big screen and OTT projects, revealing that she feels the latter offers much more freedom than films for certain roles.

While speaking to Mid Day, the actress shared that she feels Bollywood still continues to judge women after they reach a certain age. “On the big screen, the heroine is always of a certain age. Once they cross that age, unlike heroes, who can continue to play lead roles even into their 60s, women are usually offered the roles of mother or aunt,” she stated.However, when addressing the changing paradigms of cinema and storytelling, she also commented that the advent of OTT has radically changed this scenario. “Times have changed on OTT,” she added, also commenting that micro-dramas have become a popular concept online which will grow in the future. She also said, “I think microdramas are here to stay because they are very short, taking the phone screen into account. And because everyone has phones, the penetration rate is much higher.”

The actress also spoke about how women in cinema are portrayed as sex symbols on multiple occasions. She added: “Even today, there are some songs and the way they are depicted that objectify women.” However, during the interview, she also shared that things are slowly changing in the industry, adding, “Previously, women were often treated only as symbols. Now, there are more meaningful and important roles for them.”On the work front, the actress last appeared on the big screen in “Koi Jaane Na” in 2021. She also worked in the series “Life Hill Gayi” in 2024. In addition to being an actress, Govitrikar is also a doctor and licensed psychologist as well, and has been working as a model.
