Joy Sunday has officially been nominated for an Emmy Award.

The actress received her first Emmy Award nomination in the supporting actress category for her performance as Agent Judy Plumb in DTF St. Louisthe acclaimed limited series, which also received 13 nominations, including Outstanding Limited Series or Anthology, when the 2026 Emmy nominations were announced on July 8.

Talk to Hollywood Reporter Shortly after the nominations were announced, Sunday said she learned the news with her colleagues.

“Everything was happening so fast,” Sunday recalls. “Oh my God, I was actually on the phone with [series creator] Steve [Conrad]The assistant/co-producers when this all happened, and then my phone kind of rang, and the whole cast was there in the group chat with the producers, so pretty much everyone [found out] At the same time. It really speaks to the kind of family we feel on set. We were all celebrating together.”

Sunday has been seen in major series like Netflix’s Emmy-winning supernatural comedy Wednesday ‘Blank slate pictures’ Yas Queen, But it was DTF St. Louis That would earn her her first Emmy nomination — and she wasn’t surprised.

“I have a really big confidence in this show. It’s an honor and a gift to have my work recognized on it, but out of everything, the fact that everyone got recognition is so beautiful; I’m really happy for everyone,” Sunday says. “Working on set was my dream job. Of course, there is a lot that makes it meaningful, but to be recognized by… [TV] The academy above it was just the cream of the crop.

And Sunday was not the only one dtf Cast members will be recognized, with co-stars Linda Cardellini, Richard Jenkins, David Harbor and Jason Bateman also receiving acting nominations. Sharing scenes with the latter was a full-on moment for Sunday, one that somewhat showcased the opportunity before she even auditioned for the HBO series.

“My first day working with him was probably about a month after the shooting. I flew from place to place Wednesday“She didn’t sleep, and she was about to spend a week straight interrogating Jason Bateman,” she says with a laugh. “And it was seamless. It speaks to how easy and warm the energy was on set. Working opposite Jason and Richard Jenkins just came together. I’m so grateful to both of them for being such great scene partners.”

“About a year after my audition date, I had texted my manager saying, ‘I want to go with Jason Bateman,’ and in a sense, I ended up doing it,” she adds.

Although she left most of Agent Plumb’s wardrobe behind when she finished filming the series, Sunday didn’t leave the set completely empty-handed.

“It was kind of an early Christmas. There are jackets and T-shirts and key chains. I think I made Richard some golf balls that say ‘Indiana Jones Jack Off Classics.’ There’s a lot of different memorabilia from that. I have a hat here. There’s a lot of stuff I kept,” Sunday admits. “I mean my wardrobe was great, but I didn’t take any of it,” she adds with a laugh.

When thinking about building Agent Plumb, Sunday says, above all, she wanted the private crimes detective to lead with empathy.

“I wanted to infuse a lot of warmth and empathy into this person who takes a very holistic approach in how she approaches this investigation, so kind of the intersection of the two was a really interesting challenge for me,” Sunday says. “Doing it unlike Richard Jenkins was just — I can’t even put into words how amazing that was.”
