Delhi-NCR woke up to heavy rains on Wednesday, with large parts of the region struggling to deal with waterlogged roads, traffic jams and disruption to public transport. While the rains brought relief from the recent spell of high temperatures, it also left passengers experiencing long delays in Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad.

For those wondering when the rains will ease, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) noted that the current weather is likely to continue for the next two days.

Rain likely until July 11: IMD
The IMD has issued an orange alert for Delhi and predicted that the sky will be generally cloudy with heavy rain on July 9. Rainfall activity is expected to continue in the national capital till July 11, indicating that intermittent rains are likely to continue over the coming days, according to the seven-day forecast of the Meteorological Department.

This year’s nationwide monsoon coverage was completed a day later than usual on July 8.

Roads near the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway service road in Narsinghpur, Pasai, Kadipur and Sohna witnessed massive waterlogging, leading to traffic slowdown. Many vehicles reportedly broke down after getting stuck in flooded spaces, leaving passengers stranded for hours.
As rain continued to fall on the area, dramatic images flooded social media. Videos showed vehicles heading towards a ditch, while clouds engulfed high-rise buildings, highlighting the extent of the heavy rain.
Although the rains brought much-needed relief from the soaring temperatures, they also turned daily commuting into an ordeal for thousands across Delhi and NCR, with rain-related disturbances expected to continue as the rain spell continues till July 11.
