New Delhi: Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s much-awaited India debut was a mixture of excitement and disappointment. The 15-year-old became the youngest cricketer to play for India in international cricket, but also finished with an undesirable score during the second T20I against England at Old Trafford in Manchester on Saturday.The left-handed batsman became the first Indian to be dismissed at a loss on his T20I debut.

A fearless start for the teenager

Sooryavanshi seemed completely unfazed by the occasion. He scored 14 runs off just 10 balls, hitting a brace in an entertaining display.The youngster announced himself in style by smashing England fast bowler Jofra Archer for a towering six over the wicket-keeper’s head. He followed it up with another clean kick over the ropes from Josh Tong.The teenager’s entertaining strike ended in the fifth minute.Looking to continue his attacking style, Sooryavanshi was out against spinner Will Jacks but was beaten by the flight of the ball. England wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler completed a simple trick, ending the youngster’s innings on 14.With this dismissal, Sooryavanshi entered the record books as the first Indian batsman to stump in his first T20I innings.
