‘Balti’ OTT Release: Shane Nigam and Shanthanu Bhagyaraj starrer gets streaming date; Here’s when and where you can watch
After a long gap, Malayalam actor ‘Balti’ is all set to entertain audiences on OTT. Starring Shane Nigam in the lead, the Malayalam action drama combines sports, crime and romantic relationships against the backdrop of the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border.
Where to broadcast “Balti”
Streaming platform Sony LIV has officially announced that Balti will premiere on July 10.Sharing the update, the platform wrote: “Get ready for an entire series! #Balti is streaming starting July 10 only on Sony LIV.” The film will be broadcast in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. The film is set to hit the big screens on September 25, 2025, and reports say that the makers have been trying for an OTT release for several months, with the streaming date and platform finally set now.
A story of friendship, kabaddi and crime
Written and directed by debutant Unni Sivalingam, ‘Balti’ follows the life of Udayan who was fondly known as Balti. He is a talented kabaddi player from Velampalayam village. He has a close relationship with his mother and his friends.His life changes dramatically after his team wins the local kabaddi championship. The victory unexpectedly brought him into contact with Porthamarai Bhairavan. The rest of the story combines action, emotion, and stunning performances.

Critical response to the film
‘Balti’ received a mixed response from critics, with many reviewers appreciating the kabaddi sequences and its technical strengths.ETimes gave the film three stars out of five and wrote, “The kabaddi sequences are attractively shot and it is unfortunate that the second half does not continue to weave sports into the script. Balti could have worked as a sports film with its exciting and well shot kabaddi sequences.
