Passengers who usually travel with only a backpack or small cabin bag now have a new ticket option on IndiGo. The airline has introduced IndiGo Lite, a new economy class fare designed for passengers who do not need check-in baggage and prefer to pay only for services they actually use.

The new fare will be available for booking from July 1, through IndiGo’s direct booking channels, while travel under this category will start from July 15, according to the IndiGo press release.

Who can book IndiGo Lite?

IndiGo Lite will be available through the airline’s official website, mobile app and call centre.

The fare can be booked for:

  • Non-stop domestic and international flights
  • One-way, round-trip, and multicity flights
  • Both adult and child passengers

Lite fare features

The new price targets passengers who travel light and do not need checked baggage.

Under IndiGo Lite, passengers will get:

– Lower basic fare

-Automatically assigned seat at no additional cost

– Baggage allowance on board is up to 7 kg

Since check-in baggage is not included, passengers can choose to pay only for the additional services they require.

Optional extras available

Travelers who book a Lite fare can customize their trip by purchasing optional services separately.

These include:

  • Baggage check-in
  • Choose your preferred seat
  • Meals
  • Fast Forward and other priority services

These add-ons can be purchased through the IndiGo website or at the airport one hour before departure.

The price joins existing options – Saver, Flexi Plus, IndiGo UpFront, IndiGoStretch and Stretch+ – giving customers more options based on their travel preferences, comfort requirements and budget.
