Guillermo del Toro, Gale Anne Hurd and John Gore elected to the Board of Trustees of the Academy Film Museum

Mexican director Guillermo del Toro, American producer Gale Anne Heard and British actor John Gore have been elected to the Academy of Motion Picture Museum’s board of trustees, the museum announced Tuesday.

The Board of Directors, as the governing body of the Academy Museum, ensures that the Museum has a sustainable future and is accountable to the public by adopting and overseeing sound nonprofit governance policies and securing adequate resources to advance the Museum’s mission.

“We are pleased to welcome John Gore, Gale Anne Hurd, and Guillermo del Toro to the Academy Museum’s Board of Trustees,” Academy Museum Director and President Amy Homa said in a statement. “Gail’s ongoing support of the Museum since before we opened has made her an invaluable partner, and we are excited to engage her even more closely. We are thrilled to welcome John, whose extensive experience and commitment to the arts will be a tremendous asset to the Board. We are also excited to welcome Guillermo, an accomplished filmmaker who aligns with our vision for public education and preservation of film history, and we look forward to the insight and creativity he will bring. Their diverse perspectives will help continue to expand the Museum’s impact around the world. We look forward to collaborating with them as we fulfill the Academy Museum’s mission We build on momentum for the future.

When the trio is officially inducted on July 1, they will join a board of directors that also includes President Olivier de Givenchy, Vice President Dr. Eric Israelian, Secretary Patricia Bellinger Balzer, Treasurer Jim Giannopoulos, Arno Buch, Evie T. Brown (Honorary Trustee), Annela Cheng, Tom Dolby, Sidonie Sedoux Dumas, Sid Janice (Honorary Trustee), Julia S. Go, Ray. Halbritter, Tom Hanks, Amy Homa, President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Lynette Howell Taylor, Cindy Huang, Travis Knight, Simon Kilmurry, Bill Kramer, Mikki Lee, Eva Longoria, Hiro Matsuoka, Katherine L. Oliver, Alejandro Ramirez Magaña, Jason Reitman, Shira Ruderman, Ted Sarandos, Teddy Schwarzman, Kimberly Steward, Kim. Taylor Coleman and Kevin Yeaman.

It was announced several weeks ago that del Toro, a three-time Academy Award winner, was also one of nine people elected for the first time to the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
