In a post on X, Sibal said: “Defeat this government. Ram ko lota, desh ko lota, achi din ka nara gotha“.

What’s wrong with you? What’s wrong with you? Na dillon ka ho ja patwara; Sab ka desh hai desh donkeysaid Sibal in rhyming verse.

The Opposition has questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the alleged misappropriation of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya and has demanded strict punishment on those behind the “scam”.

The Congress also sought answers from the government over the alleged irregularities, saying this is not just a financial “scandal” but a “betrayal of faith” as the BJP termed the construction of the Ram temple as a national movement for which every Indian donated.

On June 13, the Uttar Pradesh government formed a special investigation committee at the request of the temple trust following allegations of misappropriation of donations received at the Ram Temple.

The SIT comprises Lucknow District Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, IGP Kiran S and Finance Ministry Special Secretary Neil Ratan.

Based on the SIT report, eight people – Avinash Shukla, Anukalp Mishra, Lav Kush Mishra, Manish Kumar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey, Ram Shankar Mishra, Subhash Srivastava and Ramshankar alias Tinu Yadav – were arrested in connection with the alleged embezzlement. They were associated with counting the money and valuables received as donations in the Ram temple.

On Monday, a local court in Ayodhya decided to remand the eight accused for 14 days.
