ETimes review of “Con City”
ETimes gave Con City a rating of 3 out of 5 stars. The review stated, “Give Harish Durairaj this much: In his feature debut, he goes beyond the cookie-cutter mould, building a multi-faceted con story with a family pulse rather than the usual heroics. It’s not all done, and the film would appear more obvious for dropping 15-20 minutes of its loose stretches.”
The performers cover a lot. Arjun Das plays softer and warmer than his last intense tour, and the dual acting of Yogi Babu and Vadivukkarasi is the most reliable source of enjoyment.
Sean Roldan’s songs are a real plus and his background work is steady, while Aravind Viswanathan’s camera work is effective. There’s nothing here you haven’t seen before, but the cast keeps the familiar going smoothly. “City are happy to be a good player, and you might be too.”
