A minor girl was allegedly lured and sexually assaulted by three neighbors in Sheikh Para area of Dankuni, Hooghly, prompting the victim’s mother to file a complaint with the local authorities. Based on these allegations, Dankuni police arrested three individuals, although the family reported difficulties in obtaining copies of the FIR and medical examination records from the hospital visit on June 24.

Regarding the investigation, Commissioner Sunil Kumar Yadav noted that Chandanagar Police Commissioner has initiated legal proceedings under the POCSO Act. Local authorities arrested the three suspects involved in today’s incident.
“The police took quick action in this case after receiving a complaint. A case was registered under POCSO Act 6, following which all the three accused were arrested,” the police commissioner said.

According to West Bengal Police, “Three neighbors lured her daughter away and committed sexual assault; the case falls under the jurisdiction of Dankuni Police Station. The accused include Muhammad Azhar and Sikh Raju, a total of 3 have been arrested by the police. The incident occurred on the night of June 23, 2026. Following this, a police complaint was filed.” The victim’s mother claimed that she is yet to receive a copy of the FIR or medical report, even though the medical examination was conducted at Walls Hospital in Serampur on June 24, 2026.
The victim’s family filed a complaint shortly after the incident, which reportedly occurred on the night of June 23, 2026.
Earlier this month, in a separate incident, a 32-year-old migrant worker from West Bengal was arrested in Adhanur village near Manimangalam in Kanchipuram district on charges of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl, Kanchipuram police said.
The police said that the accused lured the victim to a secluded place near his thatched hut and sexually assaulted her.
Following the incident, the locals detained the accused and assaulted him before handing him over to the Manimangalam police.
